Moved again !!!

Blog Marathon Post 11

Yesterday, I packed all my stuff and moved places again. In the last three years, I have done it way too many times. You pack all your stuff, move to a new house/place to stay, unpack everything, make it your home and by the time you get accustomed to the place, it's time for you to move again. Last three years had seen me doing this at least ten times. I stayed in at least four different states of India and lived abroad too. I have changed my mobile number way too many times, much to the chagrin of my friends and relatives.

The whole point of all of this is I am getting tired. I am all for travelling, but I wish at the end of the day I can come back to a place which I can call home. I wish I can know where I am going to be after three-four months. But I don't see it happening anytime soon. I am sure that for the next one year I am going to pack and unpack many more number of times. My job doesn't allow me to set up everything in one place and settle down there. Not that I am complaining, but yesterday was the last straw. I hate packing and unpacking now. And how am I supposed to carry a quarter lifetime of memories in four suitcases?

I think I am getting old :/

May he rest in peace ...

Erich Segal passed away. The Ivy League Professor was 72 and died of heart attack. He had suffered from Parkinson's disease, a neurological condition that affects movement for 25 years.

I vividly remember reading his book 'Love Story'. While going through the last few pages of the books, I was reading two-three lines, crying for two-three minutes, then again reading the next two-three lines, crying for another two-three minutes and this pattern went on till I finished the book. I was surprised at myself, wondering how emotional I can become while reading a book. I think Erich Segal had that magic in his words. His Characters are people whom we can identify with and the way he weaves his plot makes us feel their emotions, predicament and trails in life. 'The Class' was also one of the books that I enjoyed thoroughly. Lives of four Harvard graduates were told in an inimitable way. I haven't read any of his other books, I have heard Doctors is also one of his good works.

May we have many more authors of his stature.May Erich Segal rest in peace. We owe you for your wonderful contribution to the English Literature.

If someone would like to recommend any other book of Erich Segal, please let me know through your comments.

Heartbroken

Last two months of anticipation.

You wait for something to happen so badly, and later come to know that its not going to happen.

Today is one of those days :(

And the reason which they give, hmmm..... all the more absurd.

I am heartbroken.

I don't think any amount of chocolates will lift my mood now.

Kolkata Book Fair is called off. Today's newspaper came with this 'jadhka'. I would hardly believe it while perusing it.

Kolkata Book fair being Asia's largest and world's second largest book fair, I so much wanted to be a part of it and experience it. Me and pooj were anxiously looking forward to it. Our plans of bunking classes and going for it, buying lots of books, all went down the drain.

The stakeholders who are at a loss - Publishers who will face a revenue loss of Rs 15 - 20 crore, bibliophiles all around the country, and ofcourse me.

I am really not liking it.
